Autistic and ADHD author Pete Wharmby: available for talks, presentations, keynote speeches, training and writing opportunities.
“Pete spoke at our Professionals Conference in February 2020, and more recently at our online Autism and Mental Health Conference, 2021. He is engaging, humorous, honest, and insightful. His thought-provoking talks gain lots of positive feedback from people attending in both professional and non-professional capacities. We look forward to working with him again!”
– National Autistic Society conferences team.
Hello, my name is Pete Wharmby. I was diagnosed as autistic at the age of 34 in 2017 – a moment which has had a hugely profound impact on my life, and helped me accept myself for who I am. Shocked by the statistics around depression, anxiety and life expectancy for autistic people, I have immersed myself in working to improve autistic awareness, acceptance and making the world a more suitable place for the neurodivergent community to live in.
I was diagnosed as ADHD in April 2024.
My books on autistic experience are available now in all good bookshops and online, and when it comes to social media, I am most active on LinkedIn and Instagram, and on YouTube, where my channel has 3000 subscribers.
I have a Ko-Fi account and Patreon if you’d like to help support me and my writing.
Increasing awareness, understanding and acceptance of autism and other neurodivergence is a long job, but I am available to help it happen in workplaces, education, health, justice and more. As a speaker with many years of experience, I am able to offer a clarity of insight and understanding of autistic experience that has proven to be extremely valuable to my clients.
National Autism Training Programme
I am a deliverer of the National Autism Training Programme developed by AT-Autism and the Anna Freud Centre, delivering training to NHS staff, care workers, residential staff and more. You can look through the programmes available here.
